Td Power Steering Ram

Hi Guys, ive just had the 205 TD Mot'd and its failed!

The mechanic told me the hydraulic ram which is on the steering rack is leaking, so hence its failed.

I'd love to know if this Ram is a common part on Peugeots or if i can only get one off another 205TD?

The ram is common to quite a few PSA cars, not just 205's - most 306's are the same as well for example

looking at peugeot's parts listings it shows the TD ram as being specific to the TD and Injection 205's, and the 309 GTI16.

 

What the difference is between this unit and the non turbo pas ram I don't know, can't imagine there being something major as the rack its bolted to externally physically the same, in which case the ram used on non injection and non turbo 205's cross references to the 309 gti, 5 speed 306's, most partner vans.

 

makes sourcing a decent used unit easier, and getting a new unit cheaper too
