I have my plan sorted!

I'm going to do a basic rebuild of Engine 2 (HG, Valve stem seals, waterpump etc...) then fit this. I will then Rebuild engine 1 in my own time.

Heres a shot of the camcover from engine 2 I took today, I'm sure this must of been replaced and sat as they don't usually look this good do they?

Had a quote for the repair work to engine 1, £200-250.

I'm going to go ahead with this soon.

Pulled the head off engine 2.

Nearly no corrosion on the head (which is more than can be said for engine 1!)

Can't feel any lip on this at all.

It does look nice & clean inside, maybe it really was a 10k engine. :D

The rust on the liners would tie up with one that had been stood for a while but the block doesn't show the same rust from infrequent coolant changes imo.

The coolant that came out was bright green and looked nice and new.

that engine looks very good, you can clearly see the honing marks on the liners and that headgasket doesnt look that old!!

Put an 8v in it with more power than any 16v. They're fun.

The main question is, does this look like a 123k mile engine. If not it's likely it has been replaced and that's got to be good news.

no its does not look like a 100+k engine, from what the pic's shows,

so i would say it is a 10K old engine..

So the possibility is my luck might finally be changing and it won't blow up within a week, woo.

It makes sense and depends on car choice.

I'm so torn whether to have the 205 and another Capri or sell all my toys and get a Clio V6/Monaro/big expensive car...

If i were you, I would keep the Capri and the 205. Trust me when i say you will be dissapointed with a clio v6 or whatever... my 205 came off the road and i got stuck with a 'modern' car (most modern ive had '97 P reg). Hate it, drives itself, no risk, feels the lifeof the drive has been taken, I have a 205, mates have some capri's Keep it oldschool. you WILL kick yourself if you dont! oh, and the 10k engine would be better in my opinion....
