Icv I Think Thats What It Is (mi16)

On the inlet manifold i think its called a ICV check to see if this is what i think it is, is it basically a cold start valve like on a 1.9 8v? should it make to car idle high when cold? only say because when i start the car in the morning it idles but not high say at 1500rpm as if "autochoke" is working!!

cheers

That's the idle control valve and controls the idle speed whenever the throttle is closed, whatever the temperature. It basically opens and closes constantly based on info from various sensors so that it maintains idle speed when the throttle is completely closed. From cold in the mornings around 1500 may be a little high, but it's not too unusual for an Mi16 to idle at around that, particularly in winter.

i see, so it wont "up" the revs when the car is cold like on the 8v's, the car idles fine when warm around 1000rpm, just wondered why on mi's they dont have a "autochoke" type thing on them!! lol
