Building an mi16 for track use. It will be used for track only...4500-7500 rpm all the time.

Will ARP conrod bolts and nuts be needed or will the std. bolts be able to withstand the stress?

ARP will surely always be better(and more expensive) than std bolts, but do I need them when staying under 8000 rpm?

Thanks :)

Cheap insurance against throwing a rod, price of a set of ARP bolts versus a new crank/rods/pistons/sump/block/valves/head etc etc etc.

Last time I threw a rod on an alloy Mi16 engine I think pretty much the lot was scrap. Crank bent. Pistons destroyed. Valves bent. etc.

Seconded. It's definitely worth it.

Also, ARP bolts aren't actually much more expensive than a new set of standard bolts from Peugeot anyway.

(well, they weren't when I last bought some anyway - not checked the price of them recently I must admit!)

Just email ARP and they will be able to point you to the nearest stockist to you,or they may well just put some in a box and send them to you.

Might be worth a phoecall to QEP

I'd recommend fitting this without a doubt - if you've got the rod bolts out anyway then would seem sense to fit some ARP bolts for piece ofm ind

Can you reuse them? I'm going to have to swap rods but mine are nearly new.

Yes, ARP's are reuseable - you just need to check that they haven't stretched out of spec, but usually no problems.

Does anyone have the measurements for new ARP bolts? I have one on my old (broken piston) engine, and I'm not sure whether they are still OK :-X
