Lever Ball Rod Clip Removal?

Recommended Posts

m@ttc

hi i'm trying to replace the lever ball which the the gear selection bar swivels on,on the gear selectors. Sorry if im being a numpty but something that seems like an easy task is turning into frustration. It's held on by a retaining clip, how do you get this out? iv'e tried to pull it out by the loop but the things bent on the other end so it wont come through the hole. :) :) Thinking of just cutting this bent bit off pulling it through and buying a new one. but surely theres an easyer way? :) thanks in advance m@ttc :P

If it is the bit I am thinking of, it sits in a slot, so pulling it back to the loop and then levering the cup off the ball should work. If all else fails, undo the nut that holds the ball to the subframe, then remove the lot from the car so you can get it on the bench and see what is happening.

pt number 0243640 on service box. i tried pulling the clip by the loop but the clip goes trough the selection bar and then bends on the otherside to stop it being removed. if i remove the clip from the slot on the other side of the selection bar it just swivels inside the selection bar because of this bent bit stopping you from pulling it out. hope this makes sence.
