Pete were abouts did you get your engine mounts from and how much?? ive looked on the BBM website but i cant see the solid ones??

i wouldnt put solid ones on mate shake your fillings out .i had some on my old mini and i couldnt see where i was going as my glasses used to viberate that much everything was a blur .

 

project is coming along nicely mate .i have to agree with pete when im looking at your project i realise im know f*** all

B) Sorry mate when i say solid i mean solid as in steel. I should have explained myself better. i know constella do a solid lower mount i just want the rest.

 

I know the vibrations going to be s*it i'm just not to confident in the rubber holding her in the engine bay. B)

I know quite a few of the proper group A mounts from Peugeot sport for later cars were a large alloy lump with a small wishbone bush like insert in the middle, some of the gearbox and top right engine mountings were made very similarly.

these would be the ones i have James, they will be ok for me but i doubt they will hold up for yours ?

 

i have seen solid ally ones (lower) somewhere but cant remember where, not sure if you can get the upper ones tho? god that would be a sh*t ride with all solid mounts surely?

I know :huh: these issues dont really come to mind when you start such a project. Im almost tempted to fab my own I would be using the engine a strut brace ;)

surely you will need to strengthen the shell somwhat for this? as it'll rip it apart on acceleration.

The cage comes through onto the front struts and then im triangulating from there. It is catch 22 thought the more strength i add the harder the engine is to remove!! :huh:

YOU certainly can James. Of that I have no doubt.

 

Only thing I don't get is your comment about Megasquirt. Yes it's not viewed favourably, but purely based on what typically happens. The equipment is fine (providing it's built properly) but I can't quite see why you say an Emerald, or DTA couldn't provide all of the same features if not more.

 

The only way I could possibly believe this is if you customise your own MS board, and in that case it's a custom ECU.

You hit the nail on the hear customized code and hardware. I think the Bosch motorsport ecus have the flexibility that i need but have you seen the price!!! :huh:

yeah, Beru and Magnetti Marelli I have seen on WRC cars, they could do all you wanted, and a a lot more quite likely, but they'll cost an immense amount of money.

Just a little image trying to explain the setup. please excuse the crudeness, but it think it shows everything. the car has a small compressor supplying the valves.

 

stage 1:

 

38mm waste gate open, 50mm wastegate closed, all exhaust passing through the the small turbo.

 

stage 2:

 

38mm waste gate closed, 50mm wastegate modulating some exaust been bypassed.

 

stage 3:

 

38mm wastegate closed, 50mm wastegate open, all exaust bypassed into the large turbo, quick spool valve closed.

 

stage 4:

 

38mm wastegate closed, 50mm wastegate open, all exaust bypassed into the large turbo, quick spool valve open. (we may not use this stage)

 

stage 5:

 

38mm waste gate open.

 

The reason dta, emerald..... are not suitable is because on top of the normal fuelling and ignition i need 3 pwm outputs with pid control loops on each.

stew (bbm)s mounts are allot harder then you might think but for such a build as yours mate id fabricate your own. ones in welshpugs pics looks real smart :)

More progress this morning, some throttle bodies have been delivered courtesy of a forum member. Very well prepared a small amount of porting needed and ive got to install the secondary fuel rail.

 

260cc/mins on the inner fuel rail @3bar

400cc/mins on the outer fuel rail @3bar

Simon has finished the dash, unfortunately when I cut the holes i made them slightly to small and needed to be taken out with a die grinder! :D

In my defence I've got the alloy flanges, they are currently been laser cut, hopefully they should be ready soon, i just need to mock the manifold up to stay on deadline! due to the fact that the plenum entrance is on the opposite side to standard I couldn't really justify fabricating anything for a temporary solution. ;)

 

I've been working on the head, and a little bit more on the intake manifold, while simon has been degreasing and cleaning the block. Really I wanted a black block but we have gone with red to make life easy as far as oil leaks are concerned :lol:

 

I have dead headed the fuel rail on the secondary injectors to allow us to run an after market regulator.
