Cylinder Head Filter?

Recommended Posts

When i put my XU9J4 back together should I put a new filter into the oil way or leave it out? Is it necessary, would it help the oil drain back down to the sump a bit quicker?

I would definatly keep the filter in as it filters the oil coming up to the head. The holes in the spray bar are very small and if they get blocked your in trouble. I just hooked mine out and gave it a clean.

You can quite happily run without spray bars, it's more that you don't want any bits of grit or swarf to get into your cam bearings! ;)

The filter is on the supply feed to the head so leaving it out won't help it drain any quicker. And yeah it probably is worth replacing it.
