Boot Tidy Up

Recommended Posts

Atari Boy

I have finished tidying up my boot! I know that some will deem this as sacrilegious and others plain pointless but there you go, I am strangely very happy with it.

The main faux pas is the carpet and I appreciate that but my rationale is that one, I am not very light so my track car will never be very light and two, being an old git I would like a modicum of sound deadening in the back to ease the journeys to and from the track.

Anyway, I have shared it with you good people so some of the gilt is lifting...

Yes Andrew, it is from the chap in Burwell who did my 1.6 seats for me.

Thanks chaps, I feel less of a c0ck.

pm me his details, if he's done one then maybe he could do another? However I have the original black mat in the back of mine.

I understand that it is car carpet, quite thin really. Colour wise it is not an exact match but quite close.

Looks much better than most track 205s. At least you can vac it! I always think it looks a bit of a mess with the back stripped out. I'd have seen if you could have got one of those spare wheel posts or even put it back in its original postion to lower the centre of gravity for that ultimate performance gain! (Also if god forbid you did roll it, the cage may save you but you may get taken out by a lose wheel hurtling about; Not really a cool way to go!)

The wheel will be removed when on track, but good point.

Looks great fella

Is it just carpet or is there a degree of sound deadening to it?

Looks good but don't like carpet, but than i,am a rally nut. I don't see a problem with your spare wheel as long as its a proper strap down. I know having it underneath would give better handling but who wants to go crawling under every time you get a flat. Any looks good enjoy. :)

Thanks for the replies, I was expecting to get thoroughly burnt.

I got some clever bolts within bolts made so

when I remove the wheel (for the track) I can aldo remove the tie down strap quickly as it would otherwise flop about possibly.

There is nothing under the carpet.

I would run a piece of carpet underlay under the carpet for sound deadening myself, however I prefer the sound of induction over exhaust. It even looks like your carpet is tailored around the roll cage feet ;)
