How Big Are My Nipples?

Recommended Posts

Toilet Duck

How big will the threads on the front/rear brakes be? I've a 1990 1.4 Cj, so that will be standard disc's and drums

And as I'm planning to change the fluid over pre-MOT, I thought it would be a good thing to fit new stainless nipples as I do each corner.

Ebay sell M7, M8 and M10 bleed nipples in staniless steel, so all I need to know is what size to order?

Also what are peoples thoughts on using a very little smear of copper grease on the nipple threads, so next time I come to bleed, nothing will be siezed up?

Mine were 7mm (Bendix calipers on a 1.6), which is stupidly thin, & why they break so easily. As Miles said, you could well find someone has already been down that route. I replaced mine with 8mm ones I had from an old Fiat, which of course meant getting the caliper threads tapped to suit...but the bigger nipple is a huge improvement.
