Parts Id Coil, Help

Recommended Posts

stevem099

hello ive discovered the coil on my gti 1.9 has gone, ive brought a new one from eurocarparts and it looks totally differnt, before i scream at them i thought id check,

the one on my car at the minute is a cylinder type one just like what you would find on a mini, they have sent me an arc coil part number 413545041 its a square shaped box, ive also brought the amp as i was told it may be that as well,

now when i brought ht leads of them the end of the wire that goes on the coil i struggled to make fit, however it would fit this new coil fine, so my question is, do i have the wrong coil on car or have they sent me the wrong one,

many thanks steve

sounds like they have sold you the wrong one, I bought a coil from them a few years ago and got one of their Beru universal unit for about £25.

it also sounds like they have sold you the wrong leads as thy are to suit a later engine which used the type of coil they have sold you.

you may want part number 413880060, but there's no picture to confirm which type it is.

ECP will probably be far cheaper, just need to gather some more data about the different fitments of parts across the ages and you'll be fine.

is the AMP a 7 pin one? Intermotor that they often supply arent the best and are known to cause issues, if you search the forum for "intermotor" you'll find a few discussions about them.

i shall have a look tomorrow, suspect its the coil as its sparking on the king lead but its a yellow weak spark, im just kind of picky and wanted to change both,
