Can I Use A Green Cotton Cleaning Kit On A Ramair Foam Filter?

Recommended Posts

I have a green cotton filter on my 309, I recently bought a cleaning kit for it and it seemed to work ok.

I have a Ramair sponge panel filter in my civic that desperately needs a clean, do you think the Green kit will be ok to use on it?

I'm going to say no. If it were another foam filter cleaner, e.g. Pipercross or ITG cleaning kit, then I'd say yes it will work OK. If your Civic filter was another cotton gauze type, e.g. K&N I'd say yes the Green kit will work OK. But using the cotton gauze cleaner on the foam filter, I don't think will work.

The cleaner will work OK, but I think the oil used is different between the foam and cotton type.

The cleaner also oils up the cotton doesnt it? Not what youd want on a foam filter I think.

To clean it blast it from the inside out with an airline :)

I'd agree with Tom, no.

Whilst in basis it is just an air filter cleaner & re-oil spray, they differ for foam & cotton air filters so I wouldn't try to mix the two.

A K&N cleaning kit would be OK (I used one one my green filter) but not on a foam.

Graham.
