just buy a 5 litre can, fill till its on the top mark on the dipstick.

Keep what's left over to top up if needed, I didn't over 8k miles, whereas a friend put a whole litre through his in about the same mileage, both of us drive quite hard

I can only imagine that being with the extended pickup with full depth sumps bolted on top of the spacer/stiffener from the alloy block engines.

With the 2L sump, spacer plate and extended pickup, you can fit in approx. 7L of oil and still be under the windage tray. That's approx. 1cm above the mark.

Yes. It's def over 6L with GTI6 sump, spacer, windage tray and extended pick-up.

Yes. But it's part of the whole deal with the baffled sump. More oil - better controlled. Probably not necessary though on a strict road car.

But isn't that just on the Mi16 with all of the above?

I didn't think the GTI-6 needed them due to not suffering from oil surge anything like the Mi16 does?

The reason I did it, was because I have an Mi head. I understand this is the root cause of the potential, mostly track day orientated surge issue, when the Mi head retains too much oil.

I definitely went for belt and braces, and from what I understand the very different head design on the XU10J4R/RS family (GTI6, VTS, 1.8 16v etc) and on the EW engines means this increased capacity and other mods are probably not necessary.

What I do have is peace of mind, and I think that makes it worth it.
