Disintegrated Clutch Plate

Recommended Posts

Richard Claydon

Hi Guys,

bought another Pug over the weekend, 1.6 GTI, which had no drive. All the gears selected fine and there were no noises from the box when trying to take up drive, just no movement.

Took a bit of a chance buying it but have got a spare box anyway.

Anyway popped the box out this afternoon - have a look at the pictures! Last ones show the plate compared to a new one!

Err, yes it has, all the friction material has gone AWOL, just leaving the spring steel backing.

All the friction material was left in the bellhousing, must've gone with a bloody huge bang. Not seen one like this before.

Make no wonder it had no drive!

Take it your problem is solved now? No further damage?

Thanks

Ran out of light yesterday and back to work today - hopefully get it all back together over the weekend.

Cheers

I'm not sure if your flywheel face will need a bit of TLC after it's been scraped raw by rivet heads?

Amazingly the flywheel has survived undamaged!
