Replacing A Starter On A Xu10j4 (405 2.0 Mi16)

Quick question:

Im replacing the starter on my 405 Mi16 (2.0 model) and i was wondering if i have to remove the ACAV as well as the inlet manifold to get at it? Ive loosened all the bolts that i can see from the inlet manifold but its not coming free.

Has anyone here changed one of these before?

Make sure you have the right starter first as the S16 uses a one off and the normal one's don;t fit.

Otherwise the inlet manifold is a pain to remove with hidden bolts etc

Yeah Ive def the right starter. Got a new one off a xanthia 2.0 16v.

Just cant seem to find the best way to remove the old one from the car? I thought about doing it from below but I was told I had to remove the inlet manifold to get at the top bolt?

Unless it was a VSX model then the starter's wrong I'm afraid, The Solinoid on these is at the front which is the only engine AFAIK in the XU range that has this, All the other's are on top and foul's the inlet

If it's never been off before then you o have a few painful bolts to get to, I seem to remember 3 or 4 under the throttle body with a huge backet bolted onto the Gearbox, Also getting the bolts off that hold the plastic part to the Alloy part can be a pain as well, Other than those it's not that bad
