Has anyone heard of this code and/or know to what it was fitted? I pulled it from a 1.9L GTi, which should have been a 75kW DFZ.

From a 405, originally on Bosch M1.3 multi-point inj :(

Sounds like a late cat equipped low comp engine.

Can't find a great deal on it, but looks like it's a CAT-equipped XU9J2 engine with 112hp (82kW) found in Phase 1 Peugeot 405's.

I'm not sure if it's one that was ever sold here in the UK as I've not heard of nor seen one, but certainly the non-CAT XU9J2 engine (D6A, D6D) found in UK 405 SRi/GRi and BX GTi 8v models is quite nice with a half decent downdraft head, flat-top pistons and Mi16 like inlet manifold and throttle body. 122hp and 125lbft from memory.

Does the DFV also have that head/manifold setup, or does it have the conventional head/inlet as per the XU9J1 (DFZ), XU9JA (D6B), and XU9JAZ (DKZ)?

The head is conventional rectangular port design, however it may not be original as it appears to have been reco'd. I'd say it's a 205 head on a 405 cat block then. The very early 405's in Oz were low cr with a cat, as you say.
