well i forked out for the conductive paint tried to paint the gaps i could find as every element is broken... bar the bottom 2 that the wiper rests on , shut the boot and it looks a right mess dollops of silver all over the rear window ,, useless prefer not have one working which i probably still havnt ,as not tested yet? is there much chance of finding a window with a good element or are they all prone to this?

I've been getting round to asking whether anyone had tried that conductor repair paint stuff as I have exactly the same issue on mine... its just the bottom two rows that work.

I've figured out that the previous owners used to take their garden rubbish to the tip in the car and have scratched the inside of the screen with sticks and branches.

I guess I just got my answer!

You'll never get a rear window out and do a neat job replacing it with another one. When i wanted to get mine out to replace it with the poly one i just chucked a brick though it

On my 205, every line works, so there are some out there!

I've used the conductive paint successfully - in that all my bars now work again.

Downside is that when viewed from the outside the rear screen looks a right mess. I took function over form.

It could be possible to do a tidy looking job that works but I just did not have that much patience.

Could you not mask off the lines so that when you paint the stuff on and remove the masking tape you have nice straight lines?

I did use masking tape (maybe not high enough quality) but the problem is the fluid itself. I found it to be too watery, it would have been better if it was thicker - like a normal paint.

The struggle is to keep the lines thin and get a good circuit.

Don't forget that if the hatch is on the car that you are fighting gravity too.

If you can get it out in one piece, the one in my old car is only a couple of years old.

I think I'd just end up with two cars and two smashed rear screens!!

(I still can't bear the thought of the miami going for scrap tbh. I've already robbed a few bits off it but I can see it getting repaired someday. I thought my wife would be nagging me to get rid of it already but people keep commenting on what a nice car it looks!)

Yep, and at that price I'll be putting up with a misted up rear screen!!

It has to be said that having solved all the water leaks into the car, this is much less of a problem now.

I do wonder whether the trouble the OP had with the conductive paint stuff is down to the temperature at this time of year??

Maybe with some warmer weather and some careful masking it would actually be possible to make a decent job of it.

Iv tried the paint aswell and it is good a repairing the bars but its so untidy, its better to just leave them.

Not sure if anyone else has heard of this but i was told that you can also get some conductive tape, supposed to do a neater job but i have never been able to find any.

straight off servicebox, you'd need to call or visit a dealer to confirm a price and availability, you might be able to get a discount if you're a PSOOC or similar member and they give any discounts.

Ah, that's good Dave. Let me know if you need a hand taking any parts off.

I had the glass replaced after I found a brick on the parcel shelf. :)

well ive got a window/ hatch 99p ebay but im thinking even if i get it out of the tailgate surely a new seal would be required after its been bonded in ? or am i supposed to geet the old one out without damaging the seal ...or will these window fitters be able get them out and in with some heat gun or other ,,,,, as anyone seen a bonded window put in ? id have it sprayed but it had had a spoiler so daft holes everywhere..

The seal is purely cosmetic and just sits in a groove. You should be able to lever it out carefully and reuse when the new one is fitted.
