Removing Decals / Stickers

Recommended Posts

Craig89

Hello, i have large works rally type stickers on my 205 rallye and i was wondering the best way to remove them without damaging the paint? I was thinking of maybe applying some heat i.e hairdryer or something, Or maybe a steamer? What do people think?

Thanks Craig

Heat is good way, just dont go too hot so a heir dryer is ideal.

Heat up the decal with hair dryer/heat gun and as your peeling it off keep heating the area your going to be lifting off. If enough heat is applied there shouldnt be much glue left, but to remove the remaining glue use some week thinners on a rag.

I have removed them now, the hair dryer was successful. But i do have a bit of glue remaining, would the best bet be to try the thinners in an inconspicuous place first to ensure it does effect the paint? Thanks

you can use a proper glue remover or spirit wipe, if you are going to use thinner just do a test area 1st to make sure it doesnt take paint off

Your local staples etc. should have sticker remover which is very effective - but even smellier, use in a very well ventillated area.

I have just sent all day yesterday removing glue left from the stickers on my rallye.

I used thinner as white spirit didn't do anything.

Just make sure you don't wack loads on and its fine and doesnt damage the paint in any way

Do a small area, keep rubbing and it will start to crumble off. Add a little more thinner to wipe away the old and job done

Does take a while to do it well though
