End Float On Piston End?

Recommended Posts

B1ack_Mi16

Hi.

At the moment I'm building a 2.2 litre T16 engine for my 405 T16 project car.

I've got some nice Wiseco pistons and I ordered custom Pauter conrods for the engine.

In a silly moment I forgot to re-measure the small end width of the piston so the rods came in with 26mm wide big end and the same for the small end.

I can mount the rods on the pistons but there is really zero side-to-side float possible.

The rods are crank located.. so the question is how much do I need to skim the small ends?

Is 0.5mm each side enough or should I take 1mm each side to be "sure" things won't jam/bend?

Regards

Kristian

Minimum of about 1mm a side at the small end if it's crank located and that's assuming the boring has been done very accurately.

Ok.. thanks, then 1mm it is.

Just so silly to order custom rods that don't fit properly... argh :P:(
