Advise Xu9j4 Head On Xu10j2 Iron Block

Recommended Posts

Hi.....

I am new so I apologize if this has been raised hundreds of times.

i need some advise for my Mi16 project which is the engine is very rare in Indonesia. I heard 2 405 use mi16 engine but i never seen them.

I have plan to swap my old engine 1.6 L carburettor to MI16 engine, its hard to find Mi16 in here, now i have mi16 XU9J4 head complete with intake, throttle, air flow meter, exhaust manifold, Ecu, wiring loom and engine bracket. i planed to fit the head into XU10J2 which came from breaking 605 SRi. Does anyone done this project before?

My question is which i should use for the timing belt and tension roller since XU9J4 use timing belt with 133 dents or XU10J4 using 134 dents and also use different tension roller or just XU10J4R (136 dents)put the timing belt and tension roller .

Please help, I need the advise cause just for timing belt and roller i have to order from Peugeot France :-( no one done this before in Indonesia and dreaming this project about 7 years

apologize for my English grammar.....

thanks in advance

ical

to get decent compression you can use a 1.9 crankshaft and plane the pistons. otherwise you will only get poor compression and thus no power out of this engine.

have you searched for some 306 or citroens with the 2.0 16v engine?

Ufff it's a lot of work i think... but i have checked the crankshaft for XU10J2 (605) and XU10J4 is the same part number. the deferents is on the con rod and piston set, or maybe better use 1.9 XU9 engine block for sure?

yes, the other option is fitting XU10J4R 2.0 16v engine from 406, but is deferent head right? engine is still expansive around 800 pounds :-(

any idea for the best solution?

thanks

an 306 engine would be the best, ideally completely fit such a thing and don't combine parts of different engines unless you really know what you are doing!

the xu10-crankshafts are all the same, only the j4te (16v turbo) has a forged one i think.

the pro of an xu9-shaft is that you get higher compression (88mm stroke instead of 86mm) and a bit higher chamber volume.

Should be easy to get hold of some S16 pistons and rods and put them into the 8v block.

Then you can just bolt the Mi16 head onto it and compression and such issues would be fine..
