Window Mechanism

Recommended Posts

Raccoon

Just bought a 205 CTi and I was told the electric windows haven't worked in a long time. Just wondering whether the mechanism for manual windows can be fitted in its place or it would be easier to repair the electric ones.

Also its a 1988 CTi, did any of them come with fitted electric windows or were they added afterwards?

Thanks.

I would guess they were not factory fitted on an early car like yours.

Manual ones can be fitted easily - bought 2 to fit my CTI and winders too all in for £20. Took an hour to do both sides.

As said, manual mechs can be fitted, including from non convertible models (which will need the extra arm removing or cable-tieing out of the way)

Probably a dealer-fit option

Cheers guys, very helpful.

Think I'll get myself down the scrapyard to see if I can find everything I need. :)

If this is so, then bugger as we spent ages looking for a set of electric winders for the CJ :) Still got the manual mechanism's if anyone needs a pair!

That's what makes the search so useful :)
