Abs Warning Light

Recommended Posts

It's on, what's broken? The ABS is definitely not working. It came on after the car had been sat for awhile. Not really sure how the ABS system works. Any pointers?

I don't have a haynes manual for it if someone does could they have a quick peek and see if it has any hints?

Cheers :D

I have just had the ABS sorted on my 306 HDi. The ABS ring on the n/s driveshaft snapped so I had it replaced, but the ABS still wasn't working. It wasn't til I took it to Woodsy on here that we found the problem. Turned out when the ring snapped it bent the pin on the ABS sensor at the same time. So after a sensor placement and a system reset its all good once again.

Finally got round to sorting this, front left had the correct resistance but didnt switch between 0 and 1 volts. So tried to remove the sensor and it snapped off in the hub. MINT!

Any tips on getting all the s*it out? I've got most of it out by gauging with a screw driver.

The ring is also snapped, eurocarparts and GSF don't stock them, waiting for a call back from the stealers.

You maybe better trying to price a cv joint as iam sure you cant by the rings seperately for 306.I could be wrong though.

what woodsy said, I've only heard of Renault selling the rings separately, sounds like it was a cheap Driveshaft anyway as the rings on o.e shafts are machined out of the CV rather than a pressed on ring.

a Joint would be about £35.

I've ordered a new drive shaft at GSF you can buy the rings seperately off the internet for about £15 + postage. But the end of the driveshaft is all corroded so the ring won't seat properly even if I buy a new one. So I've bit the bullet and splashed out £67 for a new shaft. I thought that was a pretty good price TBH, I made sure it was an ABS one aswell.
