Recommended Posts

I'm near ready to getting my car on track,I'm needing to get a set of tyres before I go much further,I'm not so keen on paying £80/£90 a corner for R888s so basically can anyone reccomend a good track tyre ?

Good or cheap, pick one.

If you want cheap, then you will be getting road tyres, Yoko Parada or Toyo Proxies can both be had for about £40 a corner.

If you want good, then its 888's, Dunlop Direzzas, Yoko A048's etc, for £80 each +++.

Part worn A048s can be got from places like George Polley Motorsport. www.polleymotorsport.co.uk/

Just don't expect them to have enough tread to get you to the track and back, or for you to get much out of them.

If you run 14s, you are far far more likely to get them part worn - if you can get 13s on there you're laughing, loads available normally.

I use Federal 595 RS-R 195/50-15. I like them on track.

I payed 90 Euro each in Italy.

Have 888's gone up in price this year then? Last May i had 4 delivered for £255.

If they are now £80/90 a corner it may be time to try the Yokos or even the Kumho track tyre.

Just thinking that, seems like 888s have almost doubled in price! should have stocked up on them last year!

Kumho v70a in a 195/50/15 is stillm about £100 a corner!! Thought Kumho was a budget type band?

I realise that its a specialist tyre we are after here, but christ, its a big price hike in a year of two!

Group Buy? anyone in the tyre trade on here? (off to SEARCH the group buys!!)

Seems in reviews the v70a is pretty good though!

haven't tried them, but Hankook RS2s are about £55ea in 195/50/15 (from Camskill, although they've no stock - think there's been a shortage for a while now)

they're a road tyre but are supposedly track focussed, with a soft tread wear rating (200, i think)

Worn road tyres.

Yes as hen says, i probably should add that softer ones are obviously better!
