How Much Tolerance In Lambda Correction?

Recommended Posts

Vili

I have some starting issues at my XU10J4 (306 S16 engine) running with original ecu. Fuel rail runs "dry" if car isn't driven for couple of days and car has to be started longer. Also it doesn't run nicely at idle. I suspect that it might be because of leaking injectors.

I was thinking of buying new set of injectors from ebay (because it is cheaper then reconditioning), but the flow rate is slightly of, as the ones I'm thinking are 230cc/3bar compared to original 214cc/3bar.

Will there be trouble with the bigger injectors or is the ecu capable of learning "the new flowrate"?

Try getting them ASNU cleaned first.

The ECU can only really make very small adjustments to stop knock or reduce emissions, it's not really capable of compensating for differently sized injectors. 230cc is a 7.5% difference, which is pretty big.

sideways danny

most closed loop systems will be able to adjust by 20%. This will only work below a set load and rev point though, once you're out of cruising conditions it will be pretty rich.
