Turbotechnics 205 Smoking :(

Recommended Posts

Hi people just found this site searching the web, want to get to know other 205 enthusiasts, maybe get some advice on my 1.9 home made turbotechnics 205, its got a brand new garrat t25, reconditioned turbotechnics engine thats covered 3000 miles, drives lovely, theres no problems but when left on tick over it has blue smoke, have been told it could be my oil breathing issues, Would it be anything to do with the oil body diffuser breathers? because they cannot be connected to where they would normally be as the bottom end will get pressurised by the turbo, so at the minute on the oil cap i have a screw blocking the smaller breather pipe and the larger breather has a pipercross filter, plus is a new fuel pump easy enough to fit? u will have to excuse me as im am self taught and might sound a bit noobish to more experienced people lol :)

if anyone can help i would be very appreciative, thanks ppl- Nathan

fuel pump is about 10 bolts iirc under the rear seats, very easy to do.

by reconditioned, what do you mean exactly... if the rings havent been changed or not bed in properly you could have issues there. does the bottom end pressurise at all?

thanks for the reply mate, the bottom end isnt pressurised, by reconditioned i mean it has had new piston rings, new conrods, all bolted together with ARP bolts, knife edged crank, it doesnt have new pistons as they were checked and are fine, thanks for the advice on fuel pump, probably give it a go at weekend weather permitting!

yeah the whole engine is reconditioned cost me a few pennies for the rebuild, umm iirc i believe the head is a 2.0 from a citroen xantia, could it be a breathing problem or something more internal you think?

All Praise The GTI

are you running a middle box in the exhaust?

some people have had problems with not enough back pressure the turbo oil seals leak

no its a straight through 2 1/2 inch pipe no middle box just back, do you think this could cause damage then?
