Mi16 Iron Block/s16 Rebuild Questions

Recommended Posts

Mad Scientist

Does anyone have a Haynes manual handy for the S16 engine?

I need to know the recommended bearing clearances for big ends and mains, crank journal dimensions and tolerances, and crank endfloat tollerances.

Used the search, but my eyes are going square and i've not found an answer!

Thanks,

Pete

For the D6C Mi16 1.9 engine the bearing clearances are 0.025 - 0.05mm for both mains and rods, I can't see any reason why the Mi16 would be different.... Can't help with the journal or end float though sorry.

Im may not be much help, but both the 8v and the xu9j4 have crank end float of between 0.07 and 0.27mm (thats from the pug engine overhaul manuals).

Has that gearbox mount turned up yet?

Gearbox mount arrived early last week. Thanks for that. Give me a shout if you are ever stuck again.

Cheers for the endfloat measurement.

Have found an old Xantia manual in my loft with both engines in so all sorted now.

Thanks,

Pete
