Do GTI 6 cam pulleys fit MI16 cams ?

Also am I correct in saying that these cam pulleys are adjustable ?

I've just had the timing belt cover off mine tonight and there is adjustable pulleys on there,There is no markings on them at all and if my memory serves me correctly I thought they looked identical to the 6 pulleys.

Big bolt in middle and three 11mm bolts(I think) for adjustment.

I wonder what they are off ?

Also wonder now if it's non standard cams that are fitted !!

DW8 pulley possibly, as they fit Mi16's and are very similar looking to early GTi-6 vernier type pulleys.

DrSarty might have a picture in his build thread, as he's using a DW8 pulley that I supplied him.

DW8 pulleys, plus TUD5 and XU7JP4 ALL SEEM to fit, but with differing degrees of modification. They all have 42 teeth.

Try a search and you'll find loads of info and pics, and when I'm back in the UK in 2 days working on my car, I should be able to clarify once and for all what fits and what needs to be done to each one, specifically for Mi/S16 cyl heads.

For example the DW8 pulley is the correct thickness, but the hub needs spacing away from the head.

The TUD5 needs this doing as well, but is about 30% thicker as well and needs milling. The TUD5 diesel 1.6 is used on loads and loads of vehicles, including Rovers, so are quite easy to find. But as said I need to assess once and for all what's required to use them.

Either way though, these are a far cheaper option than 100quid plus for an aftermarket vernier, if saving money and being cheeky is your thing. :(

It's no free ride I'm afraid, but as you have adjustable pulleys already then you've done alright.
