Engine Bay Loom Electrical Plugs...what Are These For ?

Recommended Posts

davidc

We have a 1990 205 1.9 GTi that we bought as an unfinished rally project.

While working on the car we have found the following electrical plugs that we don't know what they are for.

The first is this one:

that seems to go down the back of the engine & goes somewhere between the engine & g/box:

This one is on the right hand side of engine bay (looking at front of car) & sits under the black box in the corner of the engine bay:

This one sits in a similar location but appears to go inside the car:

And finally...this one is similar to the one above but it sits on the left hand front corner, just beside the lower radiator hose:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

David

Pics 4 and 5 are low brake pad sensor wires.

If the correct pads are fitted these will plug in to the wire coming from the pad and when the pads are low you will get a warning light on the dash.

Cheeky edit :D

1, engine speed sensor, used for diagnostic purposes only

2, speedo cable

3, unsure! its a later car that I havent worked on a great deal.

4+5 brake pad wear sensor wires.

The last 2 pics which are the same plugs are for your brake pad low warning indicators. The pads have a wire coming out of them and they plug into those leads.

Thanks for the info.

Pics 1 & 2 are showing each end of the wire, one with the plug & the other disappearing between engine & box.

Cheers,

David
