Without doubt - it's a complete false economy not to have it checked and skimmed as required.

If the gasket is gone and you dont get it skimmed it wont last long again before it blows.

Also *dons flamesuit*, can the original poster (OP) please clarify what the thread's about next time?

What I mean is, the topic could be "306 Headgasket Blown", and the sub title be "Advice Please" or "Other Checks" or something like that.

I'm not picking on the OP here in particular, but many people who could/would help or provide advice simply don't bother looking at threads with really vague, simple titles that don't help show what they're about.

This is a positive suggestion rather than a criticism, as the OP and the whole forum benefits.

Forget it Rich. It's like talking to a brick a wall. I've said the same thing so many times but some people just don't have "forum common sense". Also not an attack on the OP, just a general statement.

Your general statements rule GLP, keep them coming , the 'chuckle' factor is welcomed :D

I have to refrain from commenting on this forum anymore, if i read another person say they searched but found nothing ,when a simple search brings pages of information..... sheesh :P

You can do my posts for me GLP

To be fair, the title "Headgasket" does kind of narrow it down a bit as to what the problem might be. The whole "do a search" argument is a different story I won't go in to.

As for the OP, Whether the head gasket has gone of not I always get the head checked for flatness whatever the reason it's had to come off and every time I have it's needed a skim. They're so soft just tightening/releasing the bolts is often all it takes to warp the mating surface, hence the complicated tightening sequence to minimise it.
