Cooling Quick Ones

Quick Question's before I spend my money. From what I gather although I cant find definitive answers...

1 - 8v Header tank cap pressure rating is 1 bar?

2 - Looking towards the header tank, the right hand pipe goes to the throttle body heater, and the left to the radiator?

Muchly appreciated, Ed.

yes to both Ed

quick look at one diagram on servicebox would have told you that by the way!

there's two ways the bleed hose from the radiator is routed, more often than not on earlier cars it follows the bulkhead, and later on it geos down the side of the battery and across the top of the radiator.

Forgot about servicebox, doh!

Guess I better go find a thermostat part number and rad switch part number, any suggestions what temperatures I should go for?

never had issues with standard, they seem to keep the engine running around what is said to be the optimum 88 ish degrees.

thermostat IIRC is 83 degrees which would be 1338 37, rad fan switch I'm unsure of but an old one I have lying about on my desk here is marked 97-101, that seems to correspond to 1264 22

part number I quoted for the rad fan switch will fit any 205 with a two speed fan up to mid 1990, the Phase 1 loom uses the same plug as the P1.5, just in a different place on the rad, I do believe yours was in the typical P1 position just above the bottom hose.

Tis indeed, but half of the loom running across that bottom cross member went up in smoke when I connected the battery, I repaired it but badly and some of it went again I think!

Thanks.

Doesn't the phase 1 / early 1.5 fan loom have a different three pin rad fan switch with seperate spade connectors?

I know the one I had did & iirc my 88 E reg has, I've still got the switch downstairs somewhere.

Graham.
