Resleeving A Block

Recommended Posts

pablo

Hi all, just wondering whats involved in resleeving a block? My turbo block is cracked and my spare block has a lip on it so I thought the only option was reboring and fitting oversize pistons. These seem to be impossible to get but from searching I see someone had the same problem and had the block resleeved.

From what I gather this involves reboring and fitting sleeves of the appropriate diameter into the cylinders. Then the pistons sit nice and snug.

Is this expensive? any kind of guesstimate of what would be involved in this?

Thanks all.

You can get oversize pistons for these as I used some in one of mine, It would be cheaper that way than re-sleeving the block as you would need custom liners (I guess) and all the work that goes with it as I;ve never come across this in a XU engine yet.

Thanks Miles, thought it might have been an easy alternative.

what kind of money are the oversized pistons do you recall?
