Factory Sunroof

Recommended Posts

Project205

Hi,

I have searched on this topic at length but have read conflicting reports on how to remove. Could someone clarify exactly what I need to do - it would be greatly appreciated.

I am prepping car for bodyshop so have removed all trim. The sunroof is the last item to do. I cannot bare to break/snap the plastic surrounding the sunroof as I understand it costs iro £100 and mine are in very good condition.

So, it is made up of three peices, the two rail covers and the front section. What is the procedure for removing these successfully without snapping them - is there a certain knack so to speak?

So far, I know I need to remove interior handle, then 'pull off side rail covers and front bit'. Can anyone expand on this to save me £100.

Many thanks

hello mate in not to sure about how to remove the front bit as mine was hanging off.but i know that to take the sides of is a sliding motion from the front of the car to the back.to make it easyir try to actually stand over the car sort of thing(just stand on a stool) and give gentle taps with the palm of your hand.just be patient as there will be crud trapped that needs to break or be worked sort of thing.

hope i helped

Take the trim off that houses the interior light, if you look up through the hole there are 2 screws which secure the front bit of the sunroof trim.

Undo these and the trim should slide forward (I can't remember off the top of my head if there are any more hidden away) and there are 2 torx head screws holding the other 2 down, these then slide towards the back of the car.

No! You'll break it like that, unless you undo the screws that hold them in position first, and they're under the front one!

So to remove the front section first, for this you need to get inside the car and remove the interior light from the roof console, there's 2 screw heads you'll see, these hold the front section in place, once removed you can slide the trim forwards carefully, hopefully it'll come unclipped easily and not break too many of the brittle clips.

You'll then be able to see the screw on each side holding the side ones on, undo these (Torx head iirc) and you can then slide the trims, again carefully towards the back of the car to remove.

HTH!

Edit; Paul pretty much beat me to it!
