Water Hoses - 205 1.9 Gti

Recommended Posts

hi guys,

i don't post much, i just tend to read.

while reading through another post i noticed that the water hose in the car seemed to be laid out quite differently to mine.:lol:

i'm not overly worried as it does work as it is, its just for my own interest. basicly i want to know what mine should look like if its wrong.

i have searched but i either get 17 pages about brakes and other unrelated things, or an error becasue my words are too short.

by the way incase you ask, the white stuff over the battery and in a few other places is lithium grease to protect the termials. messy but should work!

From what I can see in the picture, that looks normal enough - the radiator bleed hose has been routed around the other side of the engine bay to usual, but is still plumbed in correctly. Looks like you've still got the throttle body heater plumbed in which alot of people don't bother with, but since it left the factory with it plumbed in as yours appears to be (green pipe excluded, obviously!) then yours is technically correct, if ultimately not really needed in the British climate.

Well, looking at that picture, it looks right to me! Which one do you reckon differs from the norm?

ok cheers, the green pipe seems to go down somewhere but not really traced it.

in some pics i've seen the top right hose off the header tank going to where my green pipe is

That's bypassing the throttle body heater, as I mentioned in my reply above.

As your car is plumbed in (and how they left the factory), the green hose will go to the bottom of the throttle body, and the hose from the expansion tank will go to the other takeoff on the bottom of the throttle body. This is to allow warm coolant to heat the throttle body and prevent icing, but as said, it's not really needed in the British climate and hence most people don't bother and have a simpler cooling system as a result.

i right i see, so there just plummed backinto the system in other places then? sorry if i sound a bit dumb, the water hoses really confused me when i had the engine out hence have a garage putting all back together for me!

Effectively the end result is the same as what you have, but without coolant running through the throttle body, meaning one less coolant hose and a slightly tidier setup. There's nothing wrong with how yours is plumbed in, and as said, it's how Peugeot designed it.

Looks fine to me, in fact the thing that caught my eye was the amount of wires running here there and everywhere.
