Ludi 2 2 Cars Posted January 18, 2010 It's for my dad's new Chevrolet Cruze. He want's to buy winter tires but he don't know what tires are best or better "best buy". Well I will be very happy for listening your advice about this. He's running summer tires right know and every tyre will be better than this one. Dimensions are 205-60-16. It is not compulsory to change to a Winter Tyre at certain times of the year in the UK, like they do in Sweden for instance. Sorry Viktor, not much help. Winter tyres are not only for snowy/icy conditions but they help improve grip dramatically when the average temperature drops below 7C. TT205 42 Posted January 20, 2010 I have run winter tyres for a few years and have found it is much better to run a narrower and preferably higher profile tyre eg My car has 215 60 15 summer tyres and I run 185 65 15 winter tyres If you use the following site http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html there is a tyre size calculator which allows you to pick tyres to get as close as possible to the original rolling diameter (otherwise your speedo will be way out) You have to make sure you pick a size that the manufacturers do actually produce though. You can always drop to a 15" rim to give more scope for a higher profile However ..... looking on www.mytyres.co.uk - under the section where you can buy steel rims and tyres it does confirm that the Cruze has 205 60 16 tyres but does try to sell you 205 60 16 winter tyres So - up to you Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
