Swapping A Crank From One Block To Another

If I wanted to swap a crank from one block to another block can I just swap everything over in one go exactly the way it came off? Shells pistons rods the lot?

 

Have a cracked block in the car, and a not cracked block sitting bare and dont want to spend ANY money on it.

 

Its this or breaking the car

You should be ok to do this but you'd be best to check the crank sidefloat etc just in case its massively different to you old block imo.

can you elaborate a little mate? Not sure what that means.

There are two thrust washers on the side of the main bearing cap (#2 or #4 main bearing), check you haynes manual to see but they might need a different size from one block to the other.

Ah ok got you. Big semi circular ones? I have the ones from the spare block if that would help.

There not expensive too buy if you don't,I paid less than £15.00 for new thrust washers.

Yeah, kinda semi circular with tabs at each end.

 

I'd guess they are more crank than block specific but having a spare set will help.

Thanks, it might live again then lol! Even if I got it running and got a trackday out of it Id happily destroy it lol! Then break it
