Wiring Diagrams

Does anyone have/know where i can get hold of both wiring diagrams for the 205 which have the wiring colours on them. My haynes book only has code numbers on the wires and no reference table of colours. Could also do with an engine loom diagram for 405 1.9 mi16 if anyone has one?

Cheers Steve

wire colours aren't always consistant across the phases so you need to go by the wire numbers.

check my signature for 405 haynes manual inc wiring diagrams :)

Steve you are entering a minefield here. I believe you have to go on cable indentifying numbers rather than colour. But this was my experience;

I originally intended to use the fuse/relay unit and as much of the loom as I could from the donor 205 for my trials car. I spent a week of evenings with a magnifying glass, headtorch and the Haynes manual identifying the numbers stamped on the cables and then trying to find those numbers on the wiring diagrams.. When I came to reconcile the numbers on the cable with those on the wiring diagrams in the manual it was a lost cause. Many did not tally at all. This leads me to believe that there must have been amendments through the years. So I started from scratch and made up a loom .

So in conclusion I don't think the Haynes manual will be much help to you. Are there any age/model specific diagrams available?

Cheers for the info. I will see what I can work out. I have an unmodified phase 2 loom ready to go into my car so most of it should plug into each other okay. Its just for linking up the Mi16 loom to the car loom that im trying to work out the best way for.

I'd second/third what the guys said about wire numbers, they are much more consistent to function than a colour.

I'm working on a 306-406 V6 wiring loom at the moment and all the numbers match up from the donor vehicle but 50% of the colours don't :)

The Haynes manual does have a few errors. But there are age/model specific diagrams in the other Haynes manual...the 205 Workshop Manual.

Indeed i've known wires that change colour halfway down the loom. The snag with numbering is making sure you read it right especially of some of the writing has rubbed off.

Cheers, will try and stay away from modifying the car's loom too much. The loom I have, has the 2 brown plugs behind the dash to connect to the engine. Do these connect the instruments and starter etc? Is there a diagram as to what each one is? This might be an easier route :angry:
