hi currently doing my cambelt having abit of trouble with mine but on my engine both were circle holes that a 10mm drill bit fit in snug and went right through into the head/block, from memory the bottom pulley will be around 12 0clock, and top pulley at around 7 oclock, (check haynes as maybe otherway round) my pulleys had 3 sized holes ones about 20+mm the other was really small and the other is 10mm its the middle sized 10mm one you want.

sure someone will verify this or correct me if im wrong.

Steve

There is a cutout for the crank pin to fit into which is part of the front timing cover. Its usually around the 12 position, if you remove the crank pullet and plastic belt cover behind its dead easy to see the cutout.

There is only one hole in the cam pulley that you can use with a 10mm hole in & the crank is the bigger of the three which are grouped close together with the ridge around it.

This topic shows them with the engine in the car but this picture shows the crank pulley pin better.

The block doesn't have a hole for the lower pin, it sits in between two flanges on the lower end plate.

There is, depending on sprung (113) or eccentric (114) type of tensioner.

Glad you've got it sorted, it just goes to show how different people are good at different things, I'm sure you can do things as a bodywork man that I wouldn't consider possible, whereas I could probably do a 205 8v cambelt half asleep with one hand!
