R888

Recommended Posts

Hi, i am due for some new rubber for the front, i have medium R888s all round, and i found they went off/overheated in 6 laps of castle combe, would a hard or soft compound be better at taking the heat? Or a differant tyre all together, but i dont want to start a 'What tyre' topic, as they end in bloodshead!!

Many thanks

Matt

GG medium is hardest you get with 888's

SG is soft and will last 2 or 3 laps if the GG's lasted 4 or 5

Remember the tyres are only as good as the suspension setup. For example if you are not running enough negative camber you will quickly overheat the outer edges of the front tyres.

I've used 888's in medium compound round the ring, didn't go off for me.

GG's go off after about hard laps of Knockhill

I use GG's when racing and they last for 2 or 3 races on the front and almost a season on the rear. However each race is only 15 to 20 mins.

Intresting stuff, thanks. So would a soft compound go off/overheat quicker?

Softer compounds give more grip, but yes go off sooner.
