Roll Cage Fitting Advice

right im in the middle of fiiting a roll cage only the back half .just wondering about the mounting plats ive ordered some steel plates cut to the right size .

now do i cut the floor out and weld the peice in or do i just weld it over the floor

 

allso are the bolts supposed to run right the way through the floor to outside the car or should i weld nuts onto the plate .ive done a search and seen a few people with the captive nuts on the plates

 

so wich is the best way .its a track car not going to be doing any events .

It may help to say if its an omp or SD cage etc as they are mounted / fitted different

sd cage its sits flush on the floor .so it should use plates not box section if that helps

Captive nuts welded to the underside of the plates and then drill holes in the car big enough to allow the nuts through and the plate to sit flat against the floor.

If you bought a proper fitting kit it'd have the nuts welded to the plates already;
