Fitting An Ax Or 106 Or Even A Saxo Engine To 205

Recommended Posts

As im strugeling to get hold of a 205 tu engine localy im thinking about how hard it would be to fit any other sort of TU engine, fo instance an AX 1.1 (with injection and distributolress system), Could i fit a dizzy and carb frm my current engine and be off? or does the cam not have the dizzy/fuel pump drive?

Also does the same apply to the 106/206/saxo tu engines

And finally, if i was to run one of he above engine in its standard form, how hard/possible is the wiring in of the ecu and would i have to fit an in tank fuel pump (a stupid question but im not familiar with any of those cars) and if i did, would it it the standard tank or would i have to fit a gti tank with a bigger hole (something i really cant be arsed to do lol!!)

Cheers

Paul.

Any TU engine will fit, you'll need the dizzy housing from the old engine to mount the fuel pump. You'd need to swap the tanks for the in-tank pump.

Thanks for that, i was aware they would fit but unsure if i could use the old dizzy and fuel pump, i assume the cam also has the drive for the pump and dizzy?

Yeah it should do, if you're unsure just whip the dizzy mount off and check.

Injection engines have the cam with the drive for the dizzy, but not the fuel pump. The cam can be machined for it though, or you can just swap the cam. But be aware that the 1.3rallye, 1.4xsi and 1.6xsi/rallye have the heads with bigger cam bearings so TU3 or simillar cam wont fit. Other TU3 engines have the heads with smaller bearings so it will fit.

Im not sure but I think some Tu's have different spacings for the inlet manifold.

I may well be incorrect but its worth a quick check.

All the big bearing heads + tu5jp heads (blacktop and silvertop) and probably some other.

If its the straight through middle section you're talking about then it should do yes, i've just recently put one on my xs!

any tu engine would fit, you could fit the dizzy and run carbs or run the standard injection and ecu on the later engines,

a loom splice is simple if you know how, there is many people that can help with this including myself, but also you would need to run a uprated fuel pump to supply the extra pressure needed.
