Wheel Stud Conversion Question

Recommended Posts

Atari Boy

I am thinking about converting to wheel studs.

Bit of a strange question but would it be okay to use three studs per wheel and a locking wheel bolt?

My logic says that it would be fine but I thought I ought to check.

I do and am yet to encounter any problems, because I could not find any suitable locking nuts - most seem to have a tapered seat which is no good for speedlines.

yup, quite common on road rally cars to have only two studs on.

So it would be even okay to use two studs, one OE bolt and a locking bolt?

Could be a stupid question, but never one to shy away from making a fool of myself, is the only reason to do a wheel stud conversion to make it easier to locate the wheels on the hub?

For me it was having to remove the remains of a rear brake shield and then trying to get the holes to line up in the dark - especially when the rear disc does not have the retaining screw.

I imagine Clios use the cheaper tapered nut, the flat washer 205 GTI alloys use is where the money goes.

I need to do this as well, anyone know if these are any good:

or somewhere else to get complete stud and nut kits?

And, what's the difference between 60mm and 80mm and I don't mean one is longer than the other, mean why??

I have a proper set of brand new genuine Peugeot locking nuts, yes nuts not bolts!

when I bought my SL434 from Peugeot sport France they were suppose to come with a stud/nut conversion aswell, but the studs were on back order (good old peugeot!) and they had no idea when the would get them. I was in a hurry for the wheels so the sent them and a this set of locking nuts! Sadly I never got the stud kit despite numerus emails to them!

They are proper ones with the flat face for Peugeot wheels

make me an offer for them
