Solid Drilled Discs For 205 Xs

Recommended Posts

tdr_1976

I was wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to get hold of a pair of solid drilled discs for my 205 XS?

I've been looking but cant seem to find any, I want to keep the car on 13" wheels and don't want to upgrade to GTi calipers.

Any help would be great, thanks!

Tarox ones pop up on ebay from time to time.

drilled discs are just about looking nice. Pad compounds have evolved so all you will end up doing is spending more money on something that will last half the time.

I'm looking to cool the brakes a bit quicker, looks are irrelevant!

Cheers for the replies, I'll keep looking for some!

I cant imagine drillled discs would be much of an improvement, the best way to cool the brakes quicker is to fit vented discs,i had an XS and i know what you mean,it doesnt take alot to overheat the brakes.

Far better off with some air ducts.

Would I still be able to run the car on 13" wheels with them fitted?

The air ducts idea sounds good, how many have done it? And where can I get the ducting materials?

What 13" wheels are you using?

that's what I'd suggest too, 1.6 calipers and a set of 1.9 discs and some decent pads.

I'm not 100% if that will fit without a spacer is the only issue, the Euro 205 Rallye used 1.6 front brake and hub setup under 13" steel wheels (5.5" wide, and ET20 I think)

I'm going to be using two different set's of wheels mate;

These will be used as my Road Rally Wheels

And these as my daily driver set

I've already invested in a new set of Green Stuff pads, callipers and master cylinder, I just want to cool them down a bit more efficiently not increase the braking force, as it's good enough as it is, when they are at the right temp.

The 1.6 calipers will fit under the 2nd set of wheels but definetly not the first. If you want to cool the standard brakes then just fit some brake vents.

xs and 1.6 gti are the same caliper, just the carrier is different on the gti to accomodate the vented discs, so i cant see what issues you would have with your 13" wheels, you can still use your new pads and if your calipers are new then bolt them to gti carriers
