Shift Light Conundrum ?~?

I am confused, and before I start taking things apart to investigate I thought I would ask you guys/girls , My 205 is running itb's with an emerald ecu, I have two small led's set within the dash under neath the dial housing , now I was told these were the shift lights, I have had a read through the emerald manual but that is not really helping.

 

The car is still undergoing work so is not quite finnished one of the jobs still to do is to connect the emerald tacho converter , so at the mo i cant see what the revs are doing, when driving only 1 of these lights comes on and its red it comes on right at the top of the (audible) rev range , does anybody know how the emerald shift light(s) work. I would have thought that the other light is supposed to come on prior to the red 1 or that it is the safe downshift light ? either way I dont get it ?

As far as I know Emerald can only manage one shift light.

dont think it is 2 stage. so only one will come on IIRC.
