Saxo Vtr Engine

Recommended Posts

Would a Saxo VTR Engine fit straight into a 205 XS, forgetting about the electrical bits.

I know where I can get hold of an engine from one, and was thinking if I could get away with running it on the Solex carb?

Yeah it would fit but it would be hideous to drive with the standard solex. I bet the XS engine would make more power.

Was looking to do the same, but on twin 40s.. Would it be worth the effort in dropping the vtr engine into my xs and running it on the 40s as opposed to just running the 40s on my XS TU3S engine? Cause ideally id want to run the VTR on my XS Gearbox.. If thats at all do-able?

the vtr is a good cheap replacement for the worn out xs engine, the 40's would supply the extra fuel needed, but gettin them setup correct is what counts. and due to the bigger CC somemore power is available.

the only thing is i would use the soild rockers from the xs engine compared to roller rockers from the vtr engine, as these arent made to rev as high.

xs gearbox is a much better box than the vtr one, but you may have to swop the bell housings over on the gearbox as the xs box isnt a simple bolt on job to the vtr engine.
