Clutch Pedal Snapped

Recommended Posts

joelpsmith

I was driving the car the other day when I pushed the clutch down to change up in to 3rd gear, to my surprise the pedal went light, pushed right to the floor and didn't come back up again.

I assumed it would be the cable (even though this was replaced about 6 months ago) but I carried on home, about 2 miles stuck in second gear. As soon as I arrived home I got a torch to take a look in the footwell and found that the pedal had literally sheered off and was just hanging on by a little bit of metal.

Has anyone had this happen to them before? I would think it must be a fairly rare failure and I'm now feeling very lucky for it to be the clutch pedal and not the brake.

Can the pedal be bought new from Peugeot or will I have to get one from a breaker, I'm thinking about doing brake pedal while I'm there for the peace of mind. The car is on around 150k miles btw.

this happened to a friend of mine on a 205, he had it welded together again, the garage said they had a fair few 205's over the years with the same problem!
