Late 8v Ignition

Recommended Posts

Have read the article on the mi conversion on the 205drivers website, it states that 8v ignition can be used for the conversion, is this so for the later 8v ignition? Also is there any gain from removing the cat. Cheers, Max.

The later cat 8v 205 ignition is basically the same wire side as the M1.3 ecu on the Mi16 except it has the SAD rather than the ICV but it can be made to work.

AFM is the same one iirc.

If the engine you are fitting is older than your car then you can safely remove the cat, some MOT stations might ask for proof on the age of the engine to do a non cat test but its rare afaik.

Minimum difference fom cat removal, might even loose a few lbft of torque.

Graham.
