Cheers guys. Abigail is great in all fairness, inspires confidence and gives me a telling off in her own way when needed .

Bmw guy is well known for just going for a skid, just unfortunate for us that we came out behind him and he didn't want to move. A few more videos are in the process of being done now so should be up soon.

Looks great fun - a lot of 'interesting' Nav calls  - good job it wasn't dark! :P

We did have some interesting calls but it was all good. Abigail hadn't done an event around Pembrey before whereas I have a few times so it was nice for me to have more experience of a venue for a change.

SS4: Missfire on the first loop and then a push through the second loop trying to make up time sees us having a little moment.

SS5 Forgot to turn the camera on untill half way through the first loop. Big push on the last stage of the day.

Did an autotest today down in Pembrey just to get some more seat time in the car and really throw it about and see what it does. No problems all day until I went to take a marshal out for a fun run and the little plug on the fuel pump started playing up. So a new plug is needed and maybe even change the pump for good measure too. Managed to finish 2nd overall which was a nice surprise too.

Slight change of plan now before the Christmas/Jaffa Stages on the 29th. Car wont be painted untill the new year so we can concentrate on getting the box out and rebuilt with the 4:9 cwp. Plan is then to go maximum attack from the start down there and really see what can be done.

Seeded list is out for the W.W.R.S Jaffa stages. Me and Abigail are seeded car 48. The car is currently at a friends place with no gearbox. It's been removed for the 4.9 cwp to be fitted. It's all been done and hopefully we'll have it back in and together tomorrow and hopefully a little test to make sure everything is well... and of course have a little play.

Not the best of days today down Pembrey. SS1 was covered in ice and we managed to get through with no drama. It didnt feel great but we were 18th overall and 4th in class and only 8 seconds off the class lead. With that in mind we decided that we'd attack on SS2. Unfortunately the afm decided to die before we left service. We got that changed and started the stage late. Got just over half way through the stage and the throttle cable came away from the throttle body. Ended up with a stage maximum which put an end to our challenge. Didnt get it repaired in time for SS3 so we Super Rallied for the afternoon and went out for some fun. Not the way I wanted to end 2013 but I know we have a very quick little car thats more than capable of challenging for class wins and possibly pushing for a top 10 on certain events. We shall see what 2014 brings.

2014 is now here and this means another campaign in the WAMC Tarmac Championship. I won class 5 of the championship in 2012 with my former navigator but took a year off the championship in 2013 to give the car a refresh and then do selected events. I would like to win the class again but face stiff competition this year from a few quick mk2 Escorts and a few other Pugs but we'll give it a damn good go. The 2014 spec of the car is below.

Shell/Safety

1989 sunroof shell but now plated over. All rust removed and shell strengthened

Brake lines and fuel lines inside the car

OMP 6 point bolt in roll cage

Fuel tank guards and sump guard

OMP Trs seats

TRS 4 point harnesses

Lifeline plumbed in extinguisher and hand held

Original windows covered in MSA approved film

Battery re-located to the boot

Engine&Gearbox

Recently rebuilt 1.9 16v D6C engine from a Citroen BX using the correct loom

Ported and polished head

PTS Baffled sump

Green Cotton air filter

Rebuilt 1.6 205GTI Gearbox

Quaife ATB Differential

4:9 CWP

Quick Shift

BBM Solid mounts

BBM waterhose kit

Thick core Alloy rad

Suspension&Steering

Front:

Bilstein B6 struts

180l/b Tarmac springs

Srut brace

Rear:

Rebuilt rear beam

Bilsten B6 Tarmac shocks

21mm PTS torsion bars

Steering:

205GTI Powersteering rack

Saxo electric pump

Brakes

Brembo vented discs up front

Ferodo DS3000 pads

Discs on the rear

Brembo pads

AP Racing 660 fluid

Hydraulic Handbrake

Rear compensators removed

Bias Valve

Braided lines

Wheels&Tyres

Selection of 14" Saxo vtr, 1.6GTi and 405GTX wheels

Mixture of Yokohama A021, A032 and A048 rubber.

From experience of owning both, I would say that there is a big advantage to be gained by swapping your Quaife for a plate LSD such as a Gripper / Tran-x.

Plus bonus that the Quaife will sell on for strong money meaning it could only cost you a small amount to make the swap.

Agree with above. Plate diff is miles better in Motorsport. You will need to adjust your driving style a little. Something more to learn and add to your skill set so look at it as a good thing.

That is one thing worth considering. I've only ever had a normal open diff to compare the Quaife too and that makes a massive difference. But if I was to go to a proper LSD then I would imagine another improvment in traction would be had. We'll see how it goes ;)

We are all signed up for the Steve Harkness Tyres WAMC Tarmac Championship and the FMP Rally Challenge for 2014. First round of both championships is Rali Cwm Gwendraeth on the 9th of February at Pembrey. There looks to be a strong class entry once again but as of yet I am not sure who else has signed up for the championship. We'll go there with the plan of attacking from stage 1 and setting some good times and hoopefully come away with some good points.

Entry has already gone in for the next event which is the Tour of Epynt on the 9th of March. This is just a round of the WAMC Tarmac Championship. The plan there will be to just gain more experience of the Epynt ranges but increase the pace from the previous 2 visits there.

Round one of the WAMC Tarmac championship tomorrow and the FMP Rally Challenge. We are seeded car 45 which is a little lower than expected but we'll have a crack at moving up though the field. Its going to be wet with a lot of standing water so the aim will be to finish and take home a good haul of points.

Round one didn't exactly go to plan yesterday. Think the photo says it all really.

Oooooouch_zps94455d59.jpg

Had an off into a wall of tyres on SS1 then a misfire on SS2 and lost a lot of time. We set out to claw back as much time as possible as we were languishing down in 45th overall and 8th in class. We managed to climb our way into the top 25 and too 4th in class and going into the last stage we were in a position to take 3rd in class. However, it all went a bit wrong on a sweeping left hander on the circuit. The car stepped out and for some reason didnt come back like it had done all day. Instead we spun off onto the grass and got bogged down due to the amount of water. We lost 2 and a half minutes whilst being pushed out and finished 34th overall and 7th in class. Not a great day, lots of work to do before the tour of epynt on the 9th of March.
