Engine, box and steering rack are out of the car now. So thats the front part of the de assembly sorted. Start on the inner wing this week and the wiring and then look at getting the rear beam off. We think we found the cause of the mystery vibration too. Drivers side shaft was ruined and not only that but the gearbox seemed to have lost 3 of its bolts which couldn't have been helping things.

and the customary "me in the engine bay" pic

Little bit more done tonight. Dash has now been pulled apart to free some space to sort the wiring out and had a good look at the MI16 loom to sort out what goes where and what we need and what we dont need.

Work began on repairing the inner wing tonight. Managed to tidy up one section and weld a plate in. Phill done a top job with the welder and Neil sorted the MI loom out whilst I minced about taking photos

Still a fair bit of repairs needed but we're getting there.

Been a quiet few days on the car as I have been busy with a few other things, mainly being in Llandrindod Wells over the weekend for the WAMC awards night which got messy. Got to bed around 4:30 in the morning.. good times.

Anyway.. even though no actual work has been done the parts have started to arrive. Hydraulic handbrake kit has arrived and a new grp A lower engine mount bush has been ordered along with BBM MI16 coolant hoses..ahh well.. Payday Thursday so the remaining parts can be ordered. Back to work on it tomorrow evening so more updates coming soon. ;)

Few more hours spent in the garage again. Managed to get the tank guards off.. one bolt was a bitch to get to and then rounded itself off so out came the disc cutter. Exhaust is now fully off the car, grounded back and sealed some more repair work and got the rear off the ground so the beam is ready to come off. Found a nasty hole in the sill though so thats more work to add to the list.

No more pictures at the moment. Work is being done on the wiring at the moment. Battery to be re located to the boot so a new power lead has been run through and a lot of un needed wiring chopped out and new wiring to replace old damaged stuff. Need to get some new pipes made up for the power steering rack and sort some fuel and brake lines. Sump is now off the engine and all looks well so just need to pop the baffle inside and then fit some new coolant hoses and we wont be far off dropping the engine in then.

Looking good keep up the hard graft!

Cheers.. it's slowly taking shape.

Quick one below of the rad now mounted and cowling slotted in. It's not in place in the pic but it is now after re fitting the oil cooler which was a bit of a faff to sort out but my top man Phill got it all sorted. New driveshafts are now also in place so we're slowly going in the right direction. Its fighting back a lot recently but we'll get there.

Bit more done last night. Wing on, bonnet on, rad has had some mounts made to hold it from the top and...we got the engine turning over. Fuel tank to go back in and then we wont be far of starting it.

Big update... its back on its wheels and been on the move.. not under its own steam unfortunately. It's been moved to a better lit garage to finish the wiring off and a few other bits and bobs.

Wont be long now untill its ready for action. Couple of small but fiddly jobs left to do then it'll be time for some testing before it goes for some cosmetics :D

Momentous day yesterday. It left the garage under its own steam. Few teething problems which took a while to sort out but a cheeky blast through some lanes last night and Im happy. Unbelievable how aggressive it is and how hard it pulls. Get it on the road this week now and put some mileage on it.

Magic?? I'd call it the devil's work... it goes totally bonkers... and I love it :D

First event is going to be Mini Epynt on June 2nd so a bit of mileage to build up and time for me to learn the car again.

Right then.. so big news is that it passed its MOT and is not back on the road. It did come to a stop on the way home from the MOT station. This was down to a faulty air flow meter plug and what has turned out to be a dead air flow meter. It's covered roughly 60 miles so far and we have a few earth issues to rectify and the rad fan seems to have packed in. Few more miles needed to find any more flaws and put them right.

Initial thoughts are though that its a bit of an animal and I can't wait for 2nd of June and Mini Epynt.

Its been a busy few days.. covered nearly 200 miles now with minor issues apart from the air flow meter and plug failure. Most little niggles have been sorted with a few small jobs remaining which should be done tomorrow. Hopefully be able to cover some more test mileage before Mini Epynt at the weekend. :)

Competed on the Apex Motors Mini Epynt stages yesterday run by Hereford Motor Club. Having not been over the ranges before and not used proper pace notes and in freshly rebuilt car with a new nav, the plan was just to get round and finish.

It turned out to be a very good day and the car ran without fault allday. Only problem we had was the rear was too soft and started wearing through the fuel filler neck. Other than that it was all good and we improved on our seeding going from starting as car 76 and finishing 48th overall and 3rd in class. Outstanding result both for myself and for the car. Really happy. :D
