Total Brake Light Fail - 306 Hdi

Recommended Posts

madspikes

I need some help! I was out checking the 306 over ready for popping here there any everywhere of Christmas and discovered that NONE of the 306 brake lights work!! As far as I can tell, everything else works. using the haynes looks like the fuse is ok. I've by-passed the brake pedal switch, and still nothing.

Any ideas? If I cant find the problem quickly, is there anything wrong with just adding a extra relay and running new wiring to the rear lights?

The worrying thing is, how long has it been like this? I cant remember the last time I checked, but not too long.

I have, but it wasnt the first thing.... All the brake lights were out, thats the two light cluster ones and the 6+ bulb high level one. I have by-passed the pedal switch, so its not the switch. According to the haynes, there is nothing from the pedal to the light cluster... French cars, who'd buy them!

My bets that brake switch, had it on mine all brake lights went.

I had to take dash out to replace it, as my hands are too fat to fit in the gap under the steering column.

Have fun

bingo! it was the brake pedal switch.... The switch i was testing first actually turned out to be on the clutch.. but hanging upside down in the dark... I got confused!

I was simple to do, I just dropped 4 nuts off the steering column and get my small little hands in there! Glad I didnt follow what the haynes suggested and strip the dash down! Did cut my hand to bits.

I was also lucky the local pug dealer had one in stock, the first part ever I've wanted they've actually had!
