Mi16 Conversion Manifold Question

Recommended Posts

dansalegend

Hi has anybody else had this problem as i brought the manifold second hand and put my new gasket up to it and it don't seem to be the best fit and the top stud holes are not right? I'm thinking just drilling holes is not a problem, but the manifold seems to block the edges of the head exits if you see what i mean? is this normal?

The gasket is for a 1.9 mi16 head (9-stud), the manifold is for a 2.0 mi16 (s16) head - 10 stud. Although granted I didn't realise the ports on the manifold were different :-o what was the manifold off?

may well be for a gti6 head rather than an Mi16 one.

Brought it of eGay guy selling said it was MANIFLOW MANIFOLD FOR XU9 OR XU 10 MI16 OR GTI 6 ENGINE CONVERSIONS ON A 205 OR 309 GTI.

I thought the manifold was mainly for xu9 but they used the same manifold and modifyd it to fit the xu10/gti6? or have i brought the wrong one?

Looking at the picture i'd say you have the 1.9 manifold gasket and 2.0 exhaust manifold.

Looking at the massive port mismatch I'd say it's a GTi6 manifold.

Quote 'MANIFLOW MANIFOLD FOR XU9 OR XU 10 MI16 OR GTI 6 ENGINE CONVERSIONS, Thats the problem as they only fit each application and not each one, the Mi16 conversion manifold Only the manifold fit's the XU9 engine, Maniflow sell it fitting the XU10 engine which it does but it fowls the bulkhead as the blocks taller and the GTi6 as you have there is completly different again on port spacing, Studing and height.

The seller's covered himself as he's listed all the engine's, as most have no idea about these thing's so he may not of known

I'd be tempted to take it from you Dan, and although I'm out here, I used to live in Peterborough and have friends who could collect it. Would you PM me some pics and a couple of port measurements please?

I agree with what's been said, as XU9J4 and XU10J4 exh port spacing is the same, so one Maniflow design fits either head. As Miles said there is a separate issue with the bulkhead, but looking at just your issue, that manifold is NOT for either of those above heads.

Whether it's for a GTI6 is something else I can say if you send the pics and measurements. That way you could be sure of what you are selling on.
