Gear Selector L-linkage Pivot Bolt Fell Out

Recommended Posts

SweetBadger

2nd breakdown in 2 weeks! 1st the accelerator cable goes now the bloody bolt that holds the L-lingage pivot has come undone and fallen out!

So currently stuck in 3rd gear! London rush hour traffic's going to be fun tonight...

I need the car over the christmas so need to get a fix in place asap, anyone know the bolt size thread or peugeot part number?

Crisis averted! Just got off the phone to Stew at Bakerbm, all the parts I need should be with me tomorrow

its M10 if you need to stick a bolt in there to move it, the shank of the original bolt is 14 or 16mm .

Excellent, cheers for the info.

Would imagine I've got an M10 bolt spare somewhere, if not there's probably a less crucial M10 bolt on the car that I can nick.

if he's spoken to Stew I'd imagine one of his bronze bushed quadrant pivot kits is on the way, they use a normal M10 bolt and a machined sleeve rather than a larger shank on the bolt (just like the 306 does as it happens.)

Hi many thanks for the offer Craig - would have saved me an awful lot of hassle! But as Welshpug says I've got a bronze bushed quadrant pivot kit ordered which should have everything I need.

Also decided to go for a new set of gear rods as an early xmas pressie too  . As far as my wife's concerned they're essential to get the car running again...

any m10 bolt will help you out of a pickle until tomorrow, maybe a bit of plastic in there to fill the gap a little.

Failing that put it in 2nd instead? A 1900 will do 60mph at the redline in 2nd so 30mph should only be 3000rpm. better than trying to change a clutch in the snow on christmas morning!

Good plan, only ended up with 3rd as I was stuck on a red route with very little time to get going again.

Unfortunately it's going to be dark when I leave work and get a chance to try change gear... Any idea what combination of the two gear selectors give 2nd?

Thinking about it, if you're facing the gearbox from the front of the car I think it should be smaller one to the right, larger one to the left...
